Preaching talk for the week you actually have.

The Clear Preaching Podcast is for pastors who are writing another sermon whether they feel ready or not. Episodes on the craft of preaching, on the calling underneath it, and conversations with other preachers about the work we all share.

The Clear Preaching Podcast

Listen to the latest episodes.

This show is for the preacher in the middle of the week.

Most preaching content is built for people studying preaching. This one is built for people doing it, on a deadline, in a real church, with a funeral and three meetings between Tuesday and Sunday.

So the episodes stay short. You can listen on the drive to the hospital or while you are setting up chairs. And they stay concrete, because a preaching idea you cannot use by Sunday is just something interesting you heard.

I am working on the same schedule you are. Whatever I am learning that week is usually what ends up on the show, and when somebody else knows more about it than I do, I bring them on and ask them.

What you will hear.

Preaching asks for more than technique, so the show covers more than technique.

The craft, domain by domain

Getting to one idea. Building something your people can follow in real time. Choosing words that land in the ear. Standing up and saying it in a way that keeps the room. The same four domains that shape everything else in Clear Preaching.

The calling underneath the craft

Why we preach at all, and what it does to a person to stand up week after week and say “thus says the Lord.” The privilege of it, the weight of it, and the questions most of us only ask in the car on the way home.

The week a preacher actually lives

Preparation, interruption, funerals landing on Thursday, and the honest business of getting to Sunday again. Ministry has a rhythm, and it shapes the preaching more than most of us admit.

Conversations with other preachers

Interviews with people who do this work, about how they study, how they build, what they have learned the hard way, and what they are still figuring out. Some of the best material on the show comes from someone else’s answer.

Subscribe wherever you already listen.

New episodes land on a regular rhythm. Subscribing is the simplest way to keep the work of clarity in front of you in a week that will happily crowd it out.

The podcast is the doorway.

If the show is useful to you, the Academy is where the same work gets done together, with courses, tools, and a room full of preachers carrying the same weight you are carrying this week.

You don’t have to carry the calling alone.
