A structure your congregation cannot follow in real time will not carry them anywhere. Build sermons that are as clear from the pew as they are in your notes.
Structure serves the listener first.
Clarity of Language
Precise, concrete, consistent language lands as truth. Choose words that strengthen your central idea every time you open your mouth.
Language either carries the idea or costs you the idea.
Clarity of Delivery
The sermon is an unrepeatable oral event. Your congregation takes it in live, with no rewind button anywhere. Keep them with you all the way to the close.
Delivery is communication completing itself.
We figure this out together.
I have been preaching for about thirty years and teaching preaching at the university level for sixteen, and I still walk off the platform some Sundays knowing it got away from me. The framework came out of doctoral research in oral clarity, and out of a lot of ordinary weeks in a local church I am still pastoring.
That combination is the whole point. It was shaped by scholarship and tested every seven days in a real pulpit.
